136 new Covid-19 cases surface on Saturday, active caseload reaches 12598

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 16

Nepal’s coronavirus caseload reached 804,652 on Saturday with 136 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 780,776 with 845 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 11,278 with one more fatality.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 1,773 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 1,446 were PCR tests while 327 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,313,858 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 11 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 147.

Nepal’s Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.03 %, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country’s active Covid-19 case count currently is 12,598 against 13,308 a day before.

Currently, there are 231 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

So far, a total of 14,857,561 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 8,388,402 have received the first dose while only 6,469,159 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

Globally, over 240 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.9 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 217 million people have recovered while more than 17 million cases are still active.
