According to the nationwide seroprevalence test conducted recently by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), around 68.6 percent of the total population of Nepal have developed COVID-19 antibodies.
Hot on heels of this result, the MoHP boosted that the COVID-19 vaccines administered in the country are highly effective.
“The tests have shown that the vaccines that we administered against COVID-19 are highly effective,” said Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, National Epidemiology and Disease Control Division Chief.
The Health Ministry conducted the sample survey on 13,161 people from July 5 to August 14. The surveyed people included both who have received COVID-19 vaccine and those who are yet to receive the vaccine.
The test revealed that the people who are fully vaccinated have developed antibodies as high as 90 percent and those who received only a single dose have developed 80 percent antibodies.
According to the MoHP, Vero Cell, Johnson and Johnson, and CoviShield vaccines are being administered in the country.
So far, 5.06 million people have received first dose and over 4.05 million have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
