In view of possible violent fallout of the dissolution of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli called a meeting of the heads of all four security agencies.
Security arrangements in the Capital and across the country were tightened today after various protests were held decrying the dissolution of the parliament.
PM Oli met heads of all four security agencies, including Nepali Army Chief Purna Chandra Thapa, Chief of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa Kshetri, Chief of Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal and Chief of Department of National Investigation Ganesh Adhikari.
The PM’s press adviser Surya Thapa told THT that the meeting was held to discuss security issues in the current situation. “The prime minister has given necessary order to maintain peace and order,” Thapa said. Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudyal participated in the meeting.
Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel were heavily deployed around the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, the President’s Office and other places such as Maitighar and Baneshwor area.
Nepal Police said police had intensified its presence across the country following today’s political changes.
