An elderly woman was found dead in Byas Municipality, Tanahun, today.
Sita Nepali, 62, of the municipality, who had gone missing from December 15, was found dead near her house last night. The woman was found hanging from a tree. Locals found her hanging three days after she went missing.
The locals have filed a first information report with the police demanding investigation into the suspicious death.
Kaji Pariyar, a local, said the woman was naked and bleeding at the groins. He said the woman might have been killed after rape.
The woman’s daughter, Soma Nepali, said her mother was murdered.
The woman was living alone. Her elder son lives separately while the younger son works abroad.
SP Arun Poudel of Tanahun District Police Office said sniffer dogs had been brought from Pokhara for further investigation into the incident.
