MUGLIN: First ever eye treatment centre has been established at Ichhakamana Rural Municipality in Chitwan district, on Friday.
The centre came into operation at Kurintar in ward-4 of the rural municipality at a joint initiative of the rural municipality with Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Bharatpur eye hospital.
Chairperson of the rural municipality Geeta Kumari Gurung inaugurated the centre on Friday. “Compulsion faced by the locals to go to Bharatpur for eye-related ailments has ended. Gradually all the services available at Bharatpur hospital will be available at the centre,” she added.
Chair of ward-4 Hom Bahadur Rana said the centre will also benefit locals from the neighbouring districts. Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh’s central member Chitra Kumar Maskey said that the Sangh plans to set up such eye treatment centres in 350 locations of the country.
So far, 121 centres have been established.
