Brokers’ commission slashed by 33 per cent from today

KATHMANDU: Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has decided to slash brokerage charge in securities trade from Sunday.

The board has decided to reduce the commission rate by 33 per cent, meaning the rate will be in the range of 0.40 to 0.27 per cent against earlier range of 0.60 per cent to 0.40 per cent.

As per the new rules, brokers can charge 0.40 per cent for transactions of up to Rs 50,000 and 0.37 per cent if the amount is greater than Rs 50,000 but less than Rs 500,000.

The rate for amount larger than Rs 500,000 and less than Rs two million is 0.34 per cent.

For the amount greater than Rs two million but less than Rs 10 million, the brokerage fee is 0.30 per cent.

Finally, the commission for amount higher than Rs 10 million is set at 0.27 per cent.
