The grand finale of the fifth edition of the ICT Awards organised by Living with ICT, concluded in Kathmandu, on Saturday. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung, Secretary at the ministry Hari Basyal, former minister Ganesh Shah, Member of National Planning Commission Ram Kumar Phuyal and CEO of Huawei Nepal Zhang Xiaojing presented the awards to the winners.
Among the various award categories, ‘Sanchai Chau’ app received the Rising Student Project Award while the Best Institution of Digital Governance Award was grabbed by the Inland Revenue Department.
Similarly, Nilkantha Upreti won the Pioneer ICT Award while Binay Vohora won the Entrepreneur Award. Meanwhile, Timila Yami received the Women in ICT Award and Gaurav Raj Upadhyay won the Nepali Diaspora ICT Award.
Likewise, the Digital Education Award was received by Budhanilkantha School.
The Ncell Innovation Driven Crisis Response ICT Award was bagged by ‘Paila Resister’ while the Start-up ICT Award was received by ‘Cryptogen Nepal’. ‘Hamro Swasthya’ app, meanwhile, received the Product ICT Award CPFDS and the Jury Mansion ICT Award.
Meanwhile, journalist Kiran Acharya from Karobar National Daily won the ICT Media Award.
In addition to being the main sponsor of the Huawei ICT Awards 2020, Huawei Nepal will provide Huawei Cloud to the top five winners of the Start-up ICT Awards, Product ICT Awards, Rising Student ICT Awards and Ncell Innovation ICT Award.
Along with this, Ncell also provided Rs 300,000 to the winners of the innovation category. Meanwhile, Nepal Telecom has provided fiber internet connection, Genus Solutions has provided Amazon web hosting service worth $5,000 and e-Sewa has given free business promotion facility to all the winners.
Addressing the award ceremony, Minister Gurung said that the government wants to expand technology in the country and make the Digital Nepal campaign a success by creating a roster of technology experts. Stating that now is the time for information technology to clean up politics, he stated that the award has encouraged the Nepali government to move forward with Nepali innovation.
