KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) cadres hit the streets of Rautahat District to demonstrate against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s contentious move of dismantling the lower house, on Monday.
Scores of NC leaders and party workers were witnessed protesting at several locations of the district including Rautahat’s headquarter Gaur, Durga Bhagawati Rural Municipality, Kathariya and Chandrapur as vehement slogans were chanted in unison. The protestors claimed that their struggle is aimed at protecting the political status of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, which has been recently tarnished by the undemocratic and unconstitutional move of PM Oli.
In Durga Bhagawati RM the demonstrations were conducted in presence of NC’s district president Krishna Prasad Yadav, Rural municipality’s Mayor Arun Kumar Shah, party leaders who had contested for PA in 2015 general election including Nagendra Shah, Rajesh Chaudhary and Shree Ram Yadav who led a crowd of hundreds of party workers, in an attempt to press their demands of resignation from the incumbent Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
They alleged him of eclipsing the existing political establishment of the nation as through his decision of dismantling the house and progressing towards autocracy.
Furthermore, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari’s loyalty to the citizens of this nation and sense of duty too were put into questioning as the decision of the Prime Minister was approved by the Bhandari.
