DHANGADI, DECEMBER 20

Locals have stopped police personnel from taking the body of Arjun Das, demanding the arrest of all those involved in Das’s murder in Kailali’s Janaki Rural Municipality.

Irate locals have stopped police from receiving Das’ body accusing security personnel of not showing interest in arresting the guilty at Amarwati Community Forest. Despite police request to allow the body to be taken to the hospital for post-mortem, locals have rejected the appeal.

“Police have failed to take the body from the incident site due to obstruction by the local people,” said DSP Bed Prakash Joshi.

Das, who left home on Friday evening, was found dead with his head chopped off the next morning. An audio message claiming responsibility for the incident has come to the surface. Locals and relatives demanded the arrest of the guilty based on the audio message.
