KATHMANDU, AUGUST 10

Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Monday called for further deepening Nepal’s historic ties with China and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhang Maoming.

Maoming paid a courtesy call on Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen Nepal-China relations, expand cooperation in various sectors and enhance development partnership, the PMO said.

Shah stressed the need to build on Nepal’s longstanding relationship with China and work together on areas of shared interest.

The Chinese ambassador congratulated Shah and expressed his commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier in the day, Shah had held a separate meeting with Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava at Singha Durbar.

According to the PMO, the meeting between Shah and Srivastava focused on Nepal-India bilateral relations, development partnership, mutual interests and various areas of cooperation.

Srivastava congratulated Shah and expressed his commitment to further strengthening relations and cooperation between Nepal and India.

Shah, for his part, stressed the need to further deepen Nepal’s historic ties with India and work together in areas of mutual interest.
