KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 17
The All Nepal Football Association and Qatar Airways extended the sponsorship agreement for the Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League here today.
ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa and Qatar Airways Nepal Country Manager Mohamed El Emam signed the memorandum of understanding amidst a progamme at the ANFA Complex. The two parties had reached the agreement for the previous edition of the league, which was organised without the provision of relegation, in 2019.
As per the deal, Qatar Airways, the title sponsorship of the League, will provide the ANFA with $150,000 to organise the top flight tournament.
In return, the ANFA will ensure branding of Qatar Airways, including the logo on the participating clubs’ shirts along with promotions through perimeter boards, stadium flags, LED screens and online digital content.
Qatar Airways Nepal Country Manager El Emam said they wanted to connect people with all ages and backgrounds through football.
“Football can be used as a tool to foster harmony and provide greater social support for the community,” he said. “It also provides a platform for players to develop and continue to push the standard of football in the country.”
ANFA President Sherpa thanked Qatar Airways for the support and said the sponsorship was built upon the existing collaboration with Qatar Airways. Newly-promoted Satdobato Youth Club will take on Friends Club in the opening match of the League at the Dasharath Stadium on Friday.
A total of 14 ‘A’ division clubs will take part in the league which will be played under round robin format.
The top three clubs will receive Rs 7.5 million, Rs 5 million and Rs 2.5 million respectively.
The most valuable player will be awarded with Rs 300,000, while the best goalkeeper and highest scorer will get golden gloves and golden ball award respectively along with Rs 200,000 each.
The rising player will earn Rs 150,000. After 91 matches, two bottom teams will be relegated to second division.
