BAJURA, FEBRUARY 28
Kidi Baduwal of Kordh in Ward 6 of Badimalika Municipality delivered her seventh child at Kordh Town Health Centre.
She had earlier delivered some of her children at home, while others were born at Budhiganga Health Post, some distance from her village. This time, however, after a health centre was established in her own village, she delivered her seventh baby at the local health centre.
Like Kidi, Mina Baduwal also availed herself of the parturition service at Kordha Town Health Centre, which is in her own village.
Ever since a health centre has established in their own village, women of Ward 6, Badimalika, are happy to get all pre-natal services from the health centre. There are a total of 350 households in Kordh.
Earlier, women from the village would have to go to Budhiganga Health Post, a health facility that takes more than two hours to reach from Kordh.
“As the nearby health centre was hours away, women did not bother to go to the health facility for regular check-up during pregnancy and delivered babies at home itself. This is no longer the case now,” said the Kordh Town Health Centre In-charge Bishnu Baduwal.
“People had to walk for hours even to get a cetamol earlier. They are now hassle-free,” the in-charge said.
According to Mayor Padam Baduwal, seven new health centres have been established in the local level with a view to ensuring health services in all villages of the municipality.
Besides Kordh, health centres have been set up in Mana, Rila, Rajali, Pata, Pinakhet, and Chaurata.
Further, the mayor informed that preparations were on to set up a health facility in Rapka as well.
Meanwhile, the municipality is also said to be preparing to run a 10-bed hospital in Badimalika Municipality.
