Bajura denizens reeling under water crisis for decades

Bajura, December 11

A village, home to 50 families, has been reeling under shortage of drinking water in Badimalika Municipality-9, Bajura, for years.

Fifty families staying at Gadkhet of the local level are forced to drink contaminated water from Baauli Khola. Locals say that they have no choice but to use contaminated water from Baauli Khola.

Gadkhetl locals have been experiencing the water shortage for generations, said local Mansingh Baduwa.

A water source located nearby the village dried up. The drying up of the water source has put the residents in trouble. Dhan Bahadur Baduwa complained that they were forced to drink polluted water from the local stream after the well dried up.

People and cattle have to drink the water from the same stream. “Locals fall sick due to the contaminated water every year and do not get proper treatment,� said a local.
