KATHMANDU: A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday challenging Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s decision to appoint nine new ministers.
The first hearing of the case has been scheduled for Wednesday. The petitioners — advocates Lokendra Oli, Keshar Jung KC, and Dinesh Lamichhane — have argued that Oli is a caretaker prime minister who does not have the executive power to expand his Cabinet or induct new ministers.
They urged the court to rescind the PM’s decision to expand the Cabinet, arguing that it would increase economic burden on the national exchequer.
