BAJURA, MAY 07

Tension ran high after the cadres of Nepali Congress and CPN (Unified Socialist) clashed at Pandusen of Budhinanda Municipality, Bajura, throughout the day today.

Police had opened 14 rounds of fires in the air to bring the situation under control, said DSP Chaturbhuj Ojha. CPN- US cadres had taken shelter at police post.

NC cadres had attacked the police post saying that CPN (US) activists were taking shelter inside the post.

CPN (US), Bajura, Secretary Pur Bahadur Rawat was attacked with a knife by NC cadres, police said. Rawat is under police protection. The clash had broken out after the CPN (US) cadres hit a dog, said Inspector Bindra Bogati.

Police personnel had to open fire in the air after the NC cadres started attacking the police post. Over a dozen police personnel and five cadres of the NC and CPN (US) were injured in the incident. Additional personnel have been deployed to take the situation control.
