KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, who had stayed away from meetings of the rival factions of the NCP, attended the Central Committee meeting of the KP Sharma Oli-led NCP on Thursday. He met Dahal twice in recent days before joining the Oli faction today.
Addressing the CC meeting, Thapa said the government only wanted stability and completion of the party unification process. “But the other faction did not want the party unification to be complete, forcing us to go to elections.”
Before the merger of CPN- UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, Thapa was with CPN-MC.
Some other former members of Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led NCP — Lekh Raj Bhatta, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, and Mani Thapa — have also joined the Oli faction.
