JSP-N cadres hold torch rally in Rautahat, condemn dissolution of House

RAUTAHAT: Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N) cadres hit the streets of district headquarters Gaur holding a torch rally, denouncing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s ‘undemocratic’ move of dismantling the Lower House of the federal parliament.

It has been learnt that in spite of disruptions from heavily mobilized security personnel, leaders and party workers succeeded in marching forth in protest.

Giving the reason for holding the protest, leader Rambha Devi said, “Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is disrupting the political status quo of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. Therefore, to correct the wrongful direction the PM has taken, to restore the rights of people and the state’s democracy, we have taken on this struggle.”

On December 20, PM Oli had recommended the dissolution of House of Representatives, which was promptly approved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari. This created much chaos within the political sphere of the country, while also putting the Prime Minister’s and President’s intentions into questioning.

Following the decision, leaders and party workers of Janata Samajwadi Party have been holding demonstrations in several forms, while having labelled PM’s move as unconstitutional and undemocratic.
