RAJBIRAJ: Leaders and cadres of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSPN) today staged an extensive demonstration against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR), in Rajbiraj Municipality of Saptari district.
The protesters staged a demonstration against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recommendation for dissolution of the HoR and President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s approval of it.
The protesters chanted slogans against PM Oli and also demanded that cases against Resham Chaudhary be dismissed.
Kailali District Court, on March 6, sentenced Tikapur carnage conspirator Resham Chaudhary and 11 others to life imprisonment. The court convicted them of instigating violence in which nine persons including a child was killed.
The protest rally that began from local Shivamandir marched around Rajbiraj and turned into a corner meeting where leaders and cadres chanted slogans against the PM and demanded dismissal of the House dissolution.
National Assembly member Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav, HoR member Renu Kumari Yadav, Province 2 provincial assembly member Netra Bikram Sah, Abhishek Yadav, District Coordination Committee chief Prabhakar Yadav, student leader Shambhu Yadav, Bikash Tiwari, Satish Singh, Hare Ram Yadav among others addressed the protest programme chaired by JSPN leader Kedar Yadav.
They alleged that the PM’s unconstitutional and autocratic move was regressive. They said that they could not lose the democratic and republic achievement established in the country through people’s movement. The leaders warned that they would stir up an agitation for their rights.
