The Kathmandu Badminton Academy today revealed the national team players for next month’s Kumari Bank Kathmandu Team Championship.
According to the KBA, top eight players based on national team ranking in both men and women’s section will take part in the championship slated for December 21-24. The players will be allotted to the participating teams through a draw.
The top eight shuttlers in men’s section picked up by the KBA are Ratnajit Tamang, Dipesh Dhami, Bikash Shrestha, Sajan Krishna Tamrakar, Bishnu Katuwal, Sudip Dedhai, Deepak Bohara and Nabin Shrestha.
Likewise, Nangsal Devi Tamang, Amita Giri, Anu Maya Rai, Rashila Maharjan, Shova Gauchan, Sunaina Mukhiya, Sima Rajbanshi and Samjhana Sharma were selected for the championship in women’s section.
Fifth-ranked Jessica Gurung and No 8 Sita Maya Rai pulled out due to injuries and KBA included No 9 Rajbanshi and No 10 Sharma in the list.
These players will get Rs 20,000 as soon as they get registered, while the organisers will provide them with Rs 2,500 as match fee in each game, informed KBA General Secretary Deepak Thapa.
The championship features five events – men’s singles, women’s singles, corporate doubles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles – and teams with three victories will win the match. The eight participating corporate houses will be allocated with one each player from the list, while they will pick other players from their respective organisations.
The ranking players in top four teams will get Rs 75,000, Rs 60,000, Rs 55,000 and Rs 47,500 respectively, while the winning team will receive a running trophy.
Other players in the winning side will get medals and gift hampers.
