BAJURA, NOVEMBER 8
Lampata Village, the northernmost village in the Bajura district stands neglected as central authorities have made negligible efforts to understand the woes of the remote area.
The last village located in Himali Rural Municipality-3 of the district is yet to receive any government funded infrastructure project or services.
Even basic services like health and education are yet to reach the community of 13 households, which is located at a five-days’ walking distance from the district headquarters, Martadi.
“There are 15 children under the age of five, but none of them have had any immunization,” local Indra Gurung alleged.
“The village also does not have a Children Development Center.”
Locals remarked that the nearest health post is in Bichanya, Himali Rural Municipality-1, which is two days’ walk from here.
“I’m six months pregnant, but I haven’t been able to get a medical examination,” said Laxmi Gurung, a local.
“Other pregnant ladies in the area are face a similar predicament,” she continued.
Because there have been no police related activities in the region, the security situation remains fragile, which is in turn promoting theft and poaching, locals said.
Due to a lack of roads and bridges, the village is cut off from rest of the district and its residents hardly get to know about what is going on in the district and country.
To get to the settlement, one has to pass through Gumba village, another remote village in the district.
