KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 1
Light rain and snowfall are likely in parts of Nepal’s Himalayan and hilly regions on Sunday as westerly winds continue to influence the country’s weather, while fog and mist are expected to affect visibility across parts of the Terai.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, most areas of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions. However, one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly belts could receive light precipitation during the day.
The weather is expected to remain unsettled Sunday night, with light rain or snowfall possible in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. Morning fog and mist are also likely in several Terai districts, valleys and river basins.
Kathmandu is forecast to record a maximum temperature of 24–26 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in southern plains districts such as Bhairahawa, Janakpur and Simara could exceed 31 degrees Celsius.
Mountain districts will remain significantly colder. Jumla is forecast to record night temperatures as low as 0–2 degrees Celsius, while Jomsom could see temperatures fall to 1–3 degrees Celsius overnight.
The department has advised travellers and residents in fog-prone and high-altitude areas to remain aware of changing weather conditions.
