MFD forecasts moderate rainfall in western Nepal, light rain in remaining parts

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 24

The western side of Nepal is likely to receive more rain as weather in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudur Pashchim Provinces remains generally to mostly cloudy today.

Similarly, the other provinces, where the weather will be partly to generally cloudy, will be receiving light rain.

Meanwhile, there are chances of light snowfall at some places of the high mountainous region.

Weather will persist being partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions and partly cloudy in rest of the country tonight, with chances of light rain at one or two places of Province 1, 2, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini Provinces and chances of light snowfall at higher altitude areas.

This current weather system is expected to elongate the ongoing cold temperature.

According to MFD records from 2022, January 24, 8:45 am, Nepalgunj recorded the highest rainfall accumulation with 47 mm of rain. Furthermore, 22.3 mm rain was recorded at Birendranagar, 19.6 in Dipayal, 19.5 in Ghorahi, 14.8 in Dhangadhi, 12.9 in Dadeldhura, 4.7 in Bhairawa, 1.3 in Jumla and 0.5 in Pokhara in last 24 hours.

This precipitation, coming from western Nepal and spreading all over the country, is thought to remain till Wednesday.
