RAJBIRAJ, DECEMBER 18
The body of a five-year-old boy, who had gone missing yesterday, was found in Sakarpura of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-3, Saptari, this morning.
The body was found covered with haystack, mango leaves and branch. The deceased has been identified as Anand Mukhiya, son of Rohit Mukhiya. His body was found 500 metres away from his home, said police.
The body has received deep cuts on the back and head. Anand had gone missing since Thursday afternoon.
Police had launched a search operation after Anand’s father reported that his son had gone missing since 10:00 pm yesterday night, said DSP Bhuwaneswor Prasad Shah. The boy’s body was found at 5:00 am today. A preliminary investigation showed that a tractor mowed him to death, said DSP Shah. The driver dragged the body to the garden and covered it with haystack and mango leaves to conceal the incident, said police.
Police have seized the tractor and a manhunt to nab the absconding driver is under way. The body has been sent to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital for post-mortem. Police have started an investigation into the case.
