KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 12

Five candidates for the post of Nepali Congress president, seven for two posts of vice-presidents, six for two posts of general secretaries, and 19 for eight posts of joint general secretaries.

In total, more than 500 candidates are vying for 134 posts that the NC’s 14th general convention will elect on Monday.

According to Coordinator of NC Central Election Committee Gopal Krishna Ghimire, voters will cast their votes from three booths – two at Bhrikuti Mandap and one at City Centre – from 8:00am. Voters will vote on 29 ballot papers. This means that one voter will take between half-an-hour to one hour to cast vote.

Counting of votes for party president will begin on Monday. Votes for other posts will be counted only after the counting of votes for president is over. There are 4,743 representatives who can vote.
