KATHMANDU, APRIL 2

Deepak Adhikari of Tribhuvan Army Club and Pushpa Bhandari of Nepal APF Club won the second Kisunji Memorial National Open Half Marathon here on Saturday.

The 13th South Asian Games bronze medal winner Adhikari won the men’s gold medal with the timing of one hour, five minutes and 34 seconds.

Baglung’s Tirtha Kumar Pun came second in 1:06:55 and TAC’s Rajan Rokaya was third in 1:08:49. In women’s section, the 13th SAG silver medal winner Bhandari finished first in 1:21:50, ahead of fellow APF athlete Bindra Shrestha (1:27:44) and Nepal Police Club’s Rekha Bista (1:41:18).

Top three athletes in both sections received Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. The organisers, Bagmati Province Committee of Nepal Democratic Sports Association also felicitated Olympian Sangina Baidya (taekwondo), Mathura Das Newa (boxing), Bharat Shah (volleyball), Raj Kumari Pandey (athletics) and journalist Raju Silwal.
