KATHMANDU: Both the warring factions of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) — one led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the other led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal-Madhav Kumar Nepal — have separately called for central committee meetings, today afternoon.
PM Oli-led faction has called for the CC meeting at prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar while Dahal-Nepal faction has called for the same at Karki Banquet in Babarmahal.
This is the second time both sides have called for the meeting of central committee members close to their respective sides. Prior to this, they had called separate CC meetings on Tuesday leading to the unofficial spilt of NCP after 31 months of merger.
In the earlier meeting, the Oli-led NCP faction had formed a general convention organisers’ central committee comprising 1,199 members. The same meeting had also removed Narayan Kaji Shrestha from his position as the party spokesperson, appointing Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali in his place.
Meanwhile, the CC meeting of NCP (Dahal-Nepal side) had removed PM Oli as one of the co-chairs of NCP and replaced him with senior leader Nepal. The faction, on Wednesday, also announced Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the parliamentary party leader.
