KATHMANDU, APRIL 04

Nepal has claimed the T20 International Tri-series after registering a comfortable victory against Papua New Guinea (PNG) in the finals on Monday.

In the final match of the series held today at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Stadium, bating first Nepal posted 168 runs at the expense of six wickets in their 20 overs.

Dipendra Singh Airee, who remained not out, struck a half-century (54 runs) off 38 deliveries made the most among the Nepali batsman. Similarly, Karan KC too contributed a valuabe score as smashed a quick-fire 33 runs off just 12 balls faced.

The visiting PNG failed to achieve the target as the entire team was sent back to the pavilion at a score of 118 runs in just 16.1 overs.

After having impressed in the first innings Dipendra Singh Airee yet again impressed with his bowling as he managed to scalp four PNG wickets and provided only 18 runs in his four over quota. Airee was accorded as the player of the match for his all round performance.

The Nepali skipper Sandeep Lamichhane picked two wickets while Karan KC etched three wickets to his name in his three overs.

Dipendra Singh Airee also received the player of the series award for having the made the most runs by any batsman in the series. Airee in the five matches made a total of 255 runs at an average of 85 runs.
