Nepal has decided to extend movement prohibitory order in Kathmandu Valley by another week. This order comes hot on the heels of rising coronavirus infections.
About 613 infections cropped up yesterday in Kathamandu alone. Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 291 cases together. As the country’s COVID-19 caseload has breached 700,000, Nepal’s COVID-19 induced mortalities are close to 10,000.
The decision was taken after the Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur Chief District Officials (CDOs) meeting. The lockdown is going to last until August 11 now.
The District Administration Office (DAO) in Kathmandu issued a press release and asked residents to abide by the COVID-19 protocols and avoid activities that would violate the protocols.
The current prohibitory order will allow the general stores and shops to operate till 7 PM. In addition, online delivery and take-away sections of the restaurants are allowed to operate.
However, recreational spaces such as swimming pools, gyms, theaters, party places, bars are not allowed. Also, education institutions are not allowed to operate until the government indicates otherwise.
