The cabinet expansion of Nepal will commence from Monday as Prime Minister Sher Deuba and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Chairman have reached a consensus on this issue.
The two leaders met at the Prime Ministerial residence at Baluwatar. They agreed to expand the cabinet, which would include CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal’s faction to the best extent possible.
Affirming that there was an ensuing power struggle within the part, Madhav Nepal indicated he was reluctant to join the incumbent government.
In this scenario, eight ministerial portfolios will be held by Nepali Congress, and seven ministerial positions will be Maoist Center and Janata Samajbadi Party individually.
As per the internal sources, politicians close to Madhav will be appointed with independent status. “The numbers and the ministry will be finalized by Sunday morning,” said one source. “The ruling parties are doing the homework to appoint leaders from their own party in the government. The extension will take place on Sunday or by Monday.”
It is widely believed that Nepali Congress politicians Pushpa Bhusal, Narayan Khadka, Man Bahadur BK, Kishor Singh Rathore, and Bahadur Singh Lama will secure ministerial positions.
