The American Government donated the Pfizer vaccine doses to Nepal to fight the coronavirus pandemic under the COVAX initiative.

According to the US Embassy in Kathmandu, the vaccines were brought via a flight of Qatar Airways today morning.

This is the first time the Himalayan nation had received Pfizer vaccine. Earlier, the country had received Covishield, Vero Cell, Johnson and Johnson vaccines.

With the arrival of Pfizer vaccines, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has started preparations to vaccinate children of above 12 years from November 14.

Pfizer is 95 percent effective in preventing COVID-19 and should be administered in two doses within a month.
