The health ministry has stated that Nepal’s total COVID-19 tally has hit 709,437 on Thursday. In addition, the ministry reported 2,676 new cases arose in the Himalayan nation in the last 24 hours.
A total of 8,246 swab samples were collected and were tested for the virus using the RT-PCR method. From these, 1,782 samples turned out to be positive. Additionally, 4,512 people were tested for the virus using antigen testing, and 894 tested COVID-19 positive.
With RT-PCR and antigen testing data factored in, the viral positivity rate of Nepal stands at 20.95 percent.
Currently, Nepal has 26,639 active COVID-19 cases. From these cases, 2,614 people are recovering in a hospital while 602 are battling the virus in ICU and 171 are clinging onto their lives on ventilators.
Fortunately, 1,757 people have recovered from the virus. However, 33 people have lost their lives due to this contagion in the last 24 hours.
So far, 626,468 Nepalis have recovered from their viral infections. Souring this development is the death count, which stands at 9,463 as per the ministerial data.
