Nepal Restricts Transit Movement From India, Indefinitely!

As India’s COVID-19 crisis continues to spiral out of control, many countries across the world have completely banned the entry of travelers from India.

India set another world record of 386,888 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s total infections to 18,754,984. This is the seventh day in a row that India topped 300,000 daily cases.

Currently, there are 3,172,906 active cases, while 3,172,906 patients have recovered successfully. With 3,501 new deaths, the country’s death toll reached 208,313.

Owing to the overwhelming rise in infection cases, many countries, including the US, the UK, Kuwait, France, Canada, Maldives, Germany, Italy, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Australia, have temporarily banned the entry of travelers from India.

Lately, Nepal has joined the list and banned transit movement from India starting from April 28, 2021, until further notice.

The Nepali Government has come up with this decision as many Indian citizens have been using Nepal as a transit point to travel to third countries that have banned India.

“The arrival of foreigners intending to travel to third countries via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and using TIA as transit airport will be restricted from April 28, 2021 midnight till the next notice,” said the notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal.

However, travelers arriving in Nepal as the final destination and departing from Nepal will be allowed as usual.
