Nepal’s Daily COVID-19 Cases Hit Record High

Nepal witnessed a record number of new coronavirus cases on Sunday with 7,137 diagnoses, according to the latest data received from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). With the detection of the new cases, the total tally of Nepal’s COVID-19 cases comes to 48,711 active cases.

The sharp rise in the number of new cases was detected after RT-PCR tests were conducted on 16,147 people. This alarming data indicates the number of new weekly COVID-19 cases has exponentially increased by 136.8 percent when compared to the previous week.

In the last 24 hours, 1,1612 people recovered from this deadly virus. However, 27 more people fell prey to this disease which took the nation’s total fatalities to 3,325.

Owing to this surge, the Covid Crisis Management Coordination Committee (CCMC) recommended to the Council of Ministers to seal off the border it shares with India as the subcontinent is teeming with the COVID-19 cases. Out of 35 border points, 13 border points will remain open.
