KATHMANDU: Two warring factions of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) independently called meeting of the central committee members following dissolution of the House of Representative and announcement of mid-term polls, today.
NCP co-chairs Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal have called the CC members close to them in two separate meetings.
The central committee meeting comprising members who support PM Oli is presently underway at his official residence in Baluwatar while the central committee members of Dahal-Nepal faction will be meeting later in the day.
The house dissolution, a sudden move by PM Oli on Sunday, has been called unconstitutional and autocratic by Dahal-Nepal faction within the party, further intensifying the intra-party feud.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s move, which was approved within no time by the President, has been widely criticised by other political parties as well as the general public.
