BHAKTAPUR, DECEMBER 22
Chairperson of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Narayanman Bijukchhe said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had saved the nation from a big crisis by dissolving the House of Representatives.
Bijukchhe asserted that the step taken by the PM was appropriate and all should go for fresh mandate without protesting. Talking to mediapersons about the present political scenario, he opined, “The PM’s move has prevented turmoil in the country.”
“A new party will emerge if the party splits, but what to do if the nation disintegrates? PM Oli has saved the nation from disintegration.
The coming days are however risky and the game is still on. So, people should be aware.”
Also a former lawmaker, Bijukchhe pointed out the need to amend some weaknesses of the constitution, arguing that the PM’s move was in line with the constitution. It is wrong to say the PM staged a ‘coup’, he said, making it clear that the game of seizing power through state revolt and military rebellion is the definition of ‘coup’. Bijukchhe further said Oli actually prevented a ‘coup’.
According to him, it was the machination of outside power playing against the president and PM of commanding nearly twothirds majority. The 82-year-old leader said, “The present situation surfaced after Oli took a stand on taking back the country’s territory encroached by India.”
Saying there was no alternative to a fresh mandate, Bijukchhe stressed on holding an election in a free and fair environment on the slated date.
