PM Oli to address the nation a day after dissolving House

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will address the nation a day after recommending dissolution of House of Representatives which was eventually approved by the President.

Nepal Television will go live with address to be delivered from Baluwatar at 3:00, PM Oli’s Secretariat informed.

On Sunday, in a sudden turn of events, PM Oli, at an emergency cabinet meeting, had recommended the dissolution of the House. President Bidya Devi Bhandari had later approved the recommendation thus rendering the parliament defunct.

Dates for mid-term elections to be held in two rounds on April 30 and May 10 were announced along with the dissolution of the house.

The two factions of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, a longstanding tension among whom has led to the current situation, are engaging in group meetings of their own in the wake of recent developments.
