The agreement with Japan’s Asahijuku Secondary School will support educational collaboration and cultural exchange.

KATHMNDU, SEPTEMBER 16

A cheerful “Konnichiwa” from Grade 4 students at Premier International IB Continuum School provided an informal start to a formal partnership with Japan’s Asahijuku Secondary School.

The greeting came as students headed to swimming classes, pausing to welcome a visiting delegation of senior Japanese educators. The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Premier International IB Continuum School and Asahijuku Secondary School, under the Mitsuasahi Educational Foundation.

The agreement marks Premier’s first formal partnership with an international educational institution, intended to provide a foundation for collaboration, cultural exchange and shared experiences between students and educators from Nepal and Japan.

Presented under the message “Shaping the Future of Learning Across Cultures,” the partnership will create opportunities to explore different educational perspectives and understand how learning develops within distinct cultural settings.

Delegates toured Premier’s classrooms and learning spaces, observing students engaged in academics, arts, reading, sports and other activities. They also shared their own experiences, turning the visit into a two-way exchange of educational practices.

The collaboration builds on the International Baccalaureate framework, which emphasizes inquiry, reflection, openness to perspectives and international-mindedness – principles that provide common ground for cooperation.

The partnership is expected to create opportunities for students and educators from both countries to encounter different cultures, exchange experiences and broaden their understanding of learning.
