CHITWAN, NOVEMBER 26

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today said it was the duty of all to protect the constitution, adding that solution of every problem could be found under the constitution.

“Whether we’re in the government or not, it’s the duty of all political parties to protect the constitution promulgated from a constituent assembly and I hereby ask UML too to show its commitment towards the national charter. We can find solution to every problem through the constitution itself,” addressing the inauguration session of CPN-UML’s 10th National General Convention in Chitwan today.

Further, the prime minister also called for cooperation among all political parties for the development of the country. “We political parties might have differences regarding our ideologies and policies but if we are committed to cooperation, achieving development of the country and welfare of people won’t be difficult,” he said, stressing the need to form a common stance on major issues through cooperation and dialogue among all political stakeholders.

The Nepali Congress president also remembered the days when he had spent his time in prison with UML Chair KP Oli and other UML leaders and said it was important to make sure that people in the future wouldn’t have to suffer as they did.

The NC president also extended his best wishes and congratulations to the opposition for holding its general convention as per the spirit of democratic and parliamentary system. “We need everyone’s support to rise above the partisan interest for the development of the country,” he said.
