DHANGADI, NOVEMBER 28

Food supply for Humla has started from Dhangadi of Kailali after acute food crisis hit the district hard.

Food Management and Trade Company Limited, Dhangadi, sent 90 quintals rice to Humla yesterday. The company’s regional Chief Anjila Basnet said 90 quintals rice was sent to district headquarters Simikot of Humla in trucks. She said that Ganesh Supply Sewa had taken the responsibility of supplying rice to Humla. Basnet said that the supply sewa took the rice yesterday and today. According to the supply company, additional rice will also be supplied.

“We have the stock of the rice quota to be sent to Humla,”

Basnet said. Food Management and Trade Company Limited has fixed 700 quintals rice for Simikot and Shreenagar depot of Humla.

But the rice quota is yet to be supplied. According to the regional office, 16,000 quintals rice could be sent to Humla from Mohanpur godown. Locals at Namkha Rural Municipality had reached Kathmandu demanding that the food shortage be addressed.

The food has been supplied to Humla, Mugu and Surkhet districts of Sudurpaschim.
