KATHMANDU: Nepali leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane on Wednesday joined the Hobart Hurricanes of the Big Bash League (BBL) for the upcoming season.
The 20-year-old leg-spinner is the first Nepalese cricketer to play in the BBL.
In his previous two seasons of BBL cricket, Lamichhane took 26 wickets at an average of 19.80 in 20 matches.
Commenting on his inclusion in the Hobart Hurricanes, Lamichhane said he would be using the opportunity to learn from the best in the business.
“I am excited to be joining the Hurricanes and working under the guidance of Adam Griffith. This is a great opportunity to work under some of the best in the business and learn from the best. I can’t wait for the first game against Sydney Sixers on December 10,” Lamichhane said.
“I want to be known as someone who represents his country and the region in the best possible way. I am passionate about cricket and will do my best to be an impact player for the Hurricanes and my team,” he added.
