Locals today staged a sit-in in front of the police office in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality demanding the arrest of youths involved in thrashing a girl and her relatives in Saptari.
The agitating locals shouted slogans against the local administration and burned tyres around the police post and staged the protest.
Some youths, who had come to attend a feast at Ward member Dinesh Singh’s house, had thrashed a local girl while she was out grazing cattle. The girl said that the boys had beaten her up when she retaliated after the bike they were riding hit the cow. The girl has received cracks on her lips.
Locals said that the youths had attacked and thrashed the girl’s relatives and their neighbours as well when the latter came to the girl’s rescue.
Dharmendra Mandal, Amit Mandal, and Rinku Mandal were injured in the incident. All of them have received cuts on their heads.
Police had nabbed six people involved in the incident last evening. Locals were irked after the police freed them this morning.
The locals demanded that the released people be nabbed and an attempt to murder case be filed against the people involved in the attack
