Satdobato face first loss as NRT, Machhindra win

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 11

Newly-promoted Satdobato Youth Club faced their first defeat, while Machhindra Football Club outplayed Himalayan Sherpa Club in the Qatar Airways Martyrs Memorial A Division League here at the Dasharath Stadium today.

Third-round leaders Satdobato missed a chance to go to the top of the table when they went down 1-0 at the hands of New Road Team. After a goalless first half, which was dominated by NRT, Stephane Samir Dieubeni Binong scored the solitary goal of the match after being fed Messouke Etiegnie Oloumou in the 46th minute. NRT climbed to seventh with five points from four matches, while Satdobato dropped to fourth with seven points.

Satdobato coach Meghraj KC accepted the team had a below-par performance against NRT. “We played too much of misspass in the match and NRT performed well although they were not convert all their chances,” said KC. NRT coach Raju Kaji Shakya was happy with the win. “We badly needed these three points and I am satisfied with the overall performance of the team,” he said.

In another match, defending champions Machhindra defeated Sherpa 3-0, riding on goals from Suni Bal, Norlan Zahit Oglu Novruzov and Bimal Gharti Magar. Machhindra moved to the top with 10 points, on superior goal difference to Manang Marshyangdi Club. Tribhuvan Army Football Club are third on eight pints.

Bal opened the scoring in the 29th minute when he slammed home from close following a free kick from Omolaja Nurain Kareem.

Novruzov doubled the lead in the 68th on a corner kick from Bishal Rai, while Gharti Magar netted his first goal after returning from injury in the added-on time.
