KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 2

The Tenzing Norgay Foundation and the Um Hong Gil Human Foundation (UHGHF) have provided more than 85 lakh rupees to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (PMDRF) to support the victims of the devastating Bhotekoshi flood.

During a meeting with Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle, Tenzing Norgay Foundation chief Jamling Tenzing Norgay handed over a cheque for Rs 4 million, and Um Hong Gil Foundation chief Captain Um Hong Gil provided US$30,000 to the PMDRF.

“We always stand with Nepal as it faced an immense crisis following the Bhotekoshi flood that affected thousands of families,” said Um Hong Gil, who is also an honorary Nepali citizen. According to him, UHGHF has launched a relief and recovery campaign in the flood-affected region.

“Nepal is like a second home to me, a place that has given me countless challenges and dreams to fulfil. We must come together with warm hearts so that the Nepali people who suddenly lost their families and homes to this flood can return to normal life as soon as possible,” said Um Hong Gil.

Jamling Tenzing, son of the legendary climber Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, said that the foundation is committed to supporting the Nepali community in times of need.

During the handover ceremony, board executives of both foundations were present.
