Rabindra Tiwari won the title of the Chivas Open Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, the seven-handicapper Tiwari accumulated 42 points to finish first.
He earned 20 points on front nine and added 22 on back nine with the help of four birdies.
Maj Nischaya Rayamajhi came second on count back after he was tied on 38 points with Mithun Rai and Bhuwanesh Limbu. Rayamajhi was the best among the three golfers on the back nine where he earned 20 points, while Rai and Limbu scored 19 and 17 respectively.
Tashi Dong won the gross section title with 37 points and he also claimed the most birdies award with five birdies. Arsiya Banu won the women’s section trophy with 31 points. Likewise, Bhairaja Pandey claimed the senior category title with 35 points, while Maj Bejoy Moktan came second with 34 points.
Dawa J Sherpa won the longest drive award, while Suhrid Ghimire claimed the closest-tothe-pin trophy.
A total of 101 players took part in the tournament which was played over two days to follow the health protocols imposed by the government to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. In all, 55 players completed their rounds on Saturday, while 46 golfer had played on Friday.
General Manager of Pernod Richard (SAARC) Ravinder Saini, Nepal Police AIG Hari Bahadur Pal, Deputy Managing Director of Gokarna Forest Resort Norbu Tshiring Sherpa and President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire handed over the prizes to the winners.
