KATHMANDU: Two Bangladeshi nationals who were rescued from the streets of Chitwan and Lamjung districts in a difficult condition are being repatriated today.
The philanthropic organisation, Manavsewa Ashram, had rescued the Bangladeshi nationals — Mamina Begam alias Geeta and Mohammad Babul alias Babulal — from streets in 2072 BS.
Ashram’s Secretary Sushila KC shared that the duo have been protected at the Ashram for five years and now their homes have been identified through Bangladeshi Ambassador for Nepal. She further informed that they would be sent to Bangladesh through a chartered flight for their family reunion.
Begam was rescued from Ramnagar in Chitwan district in a fragile health condition. The Ashram had made an arrangement for her treatment at Bharatpur Hospital. Likewise, Babul was found in a semi-conscious state on a Lamjung street.
Previously, the humanitarian organisation had arranged the reunion of three other Bangladeshi nationals with their families.
The organisation has so far rescued 48 foreign nationals and arranged their repatriation. As many as 100 foreigners, mostly Indians, are still under the protection of the Ashram. Efforts are being made to identify their families and facilitate their family reunion, the Ashram sources said.
