Premier International IB Continuum School hosted the second edition of TEDx Premier under the theme “Greatness Begins Here”, bringing together four student speakers and four professionals from technology, arts, sport and business.
The event featured student talks on empathy, dyslexia, global mobility, loneliness and human connection, with the speakers drawing on their personal experiences to explore broader social issues.
Grade 5 student Anuj Kei Ghimire spoke about empathy and understanding others, while Grade 7 student Suvaan Bir Shrestha shared his experience with dyslexia and the persistence required to learn differently.
Grade 10 student Ojaswi Shrestha used a personal visa rejection to question how citizenship and passports can influence access to opportunities and international mobility. Prashiddhi Karki, an IBDP 2 student, reflected on growing up as an only child and the loneliness intensified by the Covid-19 pandemic, while exploring the importance of human connection.
The guest speakers included Sharareh Bajracharya, founder and director of Srijanalaya; Ajesh Koirala, CEO of eSewa Money Transfer; Rabi Rajkarnikar, president of the Nepal Equestrian Association; and Priti Sitoula, Miss Nepal 2003 and managing director of GEMS International.
Bajracharya spoke about creativity and the role of arts in education, while Koirala discussed technology, innovation and the human purpose behind financial services. Rajkarnikar linked the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect with personal growth and sport, while Sitoula shared lessons from her career and encouraged young people to approach their goals with purpose and resilience.
According to the school, preparing students for the TEDx platform encouraged them to question, reflect and communicate their ideas clearly while building confidence through public speaking.
Premier said the event reflected its effort to extend learning beyond the classroom and provide students with a platform to develop and share their own ideas.
