KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 23

The Nepali Women’s cricket team on Tuesday registered their first resounding victory in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers after defeating Bhutan by eight wickets in Dubai.

Batting first, Bhutan had posted a target of 62 runs in the alloted 20 overs after losing six wickets, which Nepal successfully chased in 8.3 overs at the expense of two wickets.

Nepali right-hand batter Indu Barma made 18 runs (off 24 deliveries) while Sita Rana Magar smashed 17 runs (off 13 deliveries) in which two boundaries were involved.

Meanwhile, Nepali captain Rubina Chhetry contributed 10 runs in the team’s winning cause.

Ngawang Choden of Bhutan made 13 runs while Sonam Paldon too chipped in 11 runs for their team. Meanwhile, the rest of the Bhutanese batting line up failed to reach double figures.

Sita Rana Magar scalped three Bhutanese wickets and gave away only 10 runs in her four overs.

Nepal will lock horns with Kuwait on Thursday.
